Hopeful

I went to the Ark yesterday to visit Jenny. It wasn't much of a visit. The guests weren't allowed to talk to or touch the clients.

Only certain clients got to talk to family members, and Jenny wasn't one of them.

We did get to see her though. She looked fantastic! Her face was thinned out and her body more porportionate for a pregnant woman. As we were sitting across the room, I could see the baby kicking in Jenny's belly. Everytime it happened Jenny's face would light up as she felt the baby with her hands.

There was a client who talked with one of his family members. His name is Drew. He was 34 and had been there for several months. I didn't know what his drug of choice was. He came from an extremely wealthy family on Long Island. His parents planned to give over 100K upon completing treatment. His brother was at the meeting and insisted that Drew left the money alone. "The worst thing you can give a recovering addict is a load of money". Drew got upset and insisted that after treatment, he would travel back to Long Island by himself to visit friends and collect his money.

Everyone in the room thought that was a bad idea.

Anyway, there were some frustrating stories such as Drew's...but there were some very inspiring stories.

I can't wait for Jenny to get to talk to us and share her experiences at recovery. She is still on restriction and can't talk to family or make any phone calls at least for another week.

It was good. She has changed!
