She is safe

Yesterday, my mother and I took Jenny to the new treatment center....and let me tell you! It is the most beautiful place I've ever seen. I found myself wishing I was the addict :) Here are some pics of the Ark of Little Cottonwood:

Yes they have horses. The horses actually assist in treatment. They call it "EQUINE ASSISTED PSYCHOTHERAPY". While we were checking Jenny in, the other patients were out in the pasture finger painting the horse for a therapy activity :)

This facility is much better than the last one Jenny went to. At the last one, she was able to make unlimited phone calls, go walk to the grocery store, and have visitors at any time.

NOT at this place. Let me read you a couple of the rules...they have 230 rules in all.

1. No use of tobacco

2. No piercings, hair treatments, hair cuts, shaving heads

3. Mandatory urinalysis test, alcohol breath tests, and room searches at any time

4. No caffiene drinks after 5:00pm

5. No rearranging the furniture

6. No rated "R" movies

7. No cell phones, internet, or television

8. No glorifying drug use.

9. Board games may be played on weekends, playing cards are not permitted

10. Shoes must be worn at all times when outside of the bedroom.

Anyway, there are 10 rules that I thought were pretty cool. They seem strict, but Jenny will probably try to do all of these if they were not clearly spelled out on paper.

Jenny actually broke a rule while we were checking in. She had her bags searched and a loaded soringe was found with heroine in it. So I'm sure she got written up after we left.

This facility does not mess around...but at the same time, all of the counselors were extremely nice and most had a good sense of humor. The mansion was to die for and Jenny gets her own large bedroom with her own bathroom equiped with a steam shower and a jetted tub.

If she can just follow the rules, she will have it made for the next 90 days.

Anyway, I'll leave you with a picture that we took right before we left her there.
Jenny is to have no contact with the outside world for the next 14 days (no calls, no visitors, no letters). So, I won't have any update for a while.
Don't forget to watch Intervention this Monday (Sept. 1) to see Jenny's episode.

A storm rolls in

A storm has hit this family so hard...it goes by the name of heroine.

Jenny's Intervention episode aires on A&E next Monday (Sept.1). She is not in treatment yet. The TV show never provided a second chance treatment. The next option was her LDS bishop. He promised help, and then 4 days later withdrew his offer for reason that were never explained. I'm not a big fan of the LDS church right now. I personally called her bishop a dozen times wanting an explanation and he has not returned any of the messages. What kind of bishop is this?

I hit the phones hard today and found a wonderful treatment center in Sandy, UT called "Arch of Cottonwood". They will be providing Jenny with $20,000 worth of treatment and a medical detox for both her and the unborn baby. I will be personally driving her to treatment tomorrow at noon. I am thrilled, but there was something about this last process that, quite frankly, pissed me off.

I was informed by the executive producer of the show that Jenny's episode would be running on Monday. He said toward the end of the episode, they would provide the viewer with an update that would read "Jenny left treatment after 31 days. She relapsed, became pregnant, and is still using heroine".

Don't get me wrong, all of that is true...but why would someone want to air dirty dirty laundry such as that? How do they benefit from making my cousin look like a heartless junkie? It's bad enough to say that she relapsed...but to tell millions of people that she is a pregnant heroine user????

She will live with the consequences of her drug use for the rest of her life....and now everybody knows about it....EVERYBODY!!!

So I told that executive producer where he could shove it. I mentioned to him that the unborn child did not sign the privacy waiver, and the unborn child could not speak for its self. He told me that if the family loved Jenny and the baby, we would have paid for treatment by now. He told me that I wasn't doing enough to help my cousin.

Well that lit a fire under my ass and that's when I got on the phones. One hour later, Jenny had the best treatment center in Utah for free!!! And she leaves tomorrow. Screw "Intervention". They were very helpful in the beginning but now they have shown their true colors. They don't care about the addicts...they want ratings.

This is Jenny. She is a daughter, sister, aunt, friend, and now a mother-to-be. She will get better!

Update (09-01-08)

The family is not upset with Intervention. When I wrote this post, I was upset not with Intervention, but that Jenny wanted so badly to go to treatment....and I was unable to come through for her. The day after I wrote this, I felt much better. I understand now that this show helps people...it helps the addicts and it also helps the viewers who might be going through similar situations. I am 100% a supporter of Intervention. So please, don't leave me any nasty comments.

I redecorated the studio

I am always unsatisfied with my style and decor in life and in business...so I have changed it up again! This will be the 3rd re-decorate since opening just eight months ago

Before I moved in
Attempt #1
I wanted it to look clean and bright.Attempt #2
I was sick of bright, and I wanted it to look dark.

Attempt #3.
I wanted it to look like a home...a place where people feel comfortable.

The above picture is where I'm at now...and I'm pretty satisfied. I have only showed you the pics of the lobby remodel. I have four large areas in my studio that have all been remodeled 2-3 times. I just don't have the energy to post them all :)

Intervention Update

Cousin Jenny is now 5 months pregnant and using heroine. If you knew Jenny 14 months ago, you would never have guessed that she would be 30, pregnant, and a hard core drug addict.

Just over a year ago, Jenny owned her own home, had two brand new cars, worked at a high end hair salon, and had a nice savings account.

Now, she has lost it ALL. Her house is gone, both cars are gone, she forged a clients check and lost her hair licence, and her $ is long gone. I must say that I am amazed at how fast drugs can ruin someone's life. It didn't take her six months before she lost it all and overdosed three times.

Since the Intervention show, she has not slowed down one bit. Every time the show called anyone in the family for an update, we were instructed to say that she was clean and everything was fine. It is not fine! She's due in 4 months and the baby could die or have mild to severe handicapps. It is not fine!

So, I went behind everyone's back and called the show. They were shocked to learn that she was pregnant and using. They were about to run the episode on TV with the happy update.
But since I've been going to church, I had this feeling that I needed to tell the show that all was not well.

I told on her, but now they have offered her a second chance in a local rehab clinic for 90-120 days. I'm sure she was upset to learn that I told, but she needs to fix this.

Did you know that a pregnant mother on heroine can not quit cold turkey. Quitting cold turkey could kill the baby and possilby the mother. So, even if she wanted to quit, she couldn't. She needs help and now she's going to get it....for the second time!!!

Went to church again

I went to church again today so that my little one could go to primary and make friends.

It wasn't as bad as last time. I was basically 10% listening and 90% being crude.

One of the speakers started crying and could barely finish a sentence. I couldn't wait to hear the story that was about to come out of her mouth. I wanted to be inspired and from all the sobbing that was happening, I assumed that a very inspirational story was about to come out of this girls mouth. After she told the story, I found myself thinking "That's what she crying over?".....I know crude right?

So like I said, I'm not 100% there to be a "mormon". I basically want my daughter to learn songs, games, and make friends. I will do my part though. I offered to go to the cannery for a day to can dry food and I also signed up to make the missionaries dinner. Let's hope they don't preach to me.....just eat please.

Oh I forgot something that happend! While I was sitting in my relief society class, my phone went off. My phone doesn't just ring, it plays a song. The song that went off was probably one of the worst songs that could go off in front of the "sisters" of relief society.....it was called "Sensual Seduction" by Snoop Dog.....so embarassing!

I shouldn't have wrote my last post

Because I was mean in my last post...God punished me.

Today, I got pulled over and the officer gave me a ticket. He almost impounded my car because I still had the dealer plates on.

Then I went yard sale-ing and didn't find anything good.

Then I went to the car wash. While I was washing the car, I left my new dog Max in the car. He freaked out when I started spraying the windows with water. He was jumping all over the car and trying to eat the windows.

After I washed the car, I went to open the door and they were locked! Max had jumped on the locking mechanism while chasing the water. Anyway, after 30 minutes of attempts to unlock the car, I turned the water back on and made him chase it again. And sure enough, he stepped on the button again...this time unlocking the doors.

So, I am not going to say anything mean about anybody ever again. Karma is truly terrible...but God is clever.
